Rice cookers make the best rice, hands down. However, if you have a small kitchen, it's hard to justify the counter space—until now. ALDI sells the cutest rice cookers, with a two-cup capacity, and I had to buy one for my parents.
My parents moved out of the big house I grew up in and now split their time between a condo in Florida and a ranch in the Midwest. Neither place has a kitchen as big as their old house, and to save space, my mom got rid of the ALDI rice cooker I gave her many years ago.
Why I love the ALDI Ambiano Two-Cup Rice Cooker
When I saw that ALDI was currently having a “dorm sale,” featuring smaller versions of their full-size appliances, I was intrigued. I love ALDI’s classic rice cookers, but if you live in a smaller space like my parents, it’s not possible to stock up on a lot of different appliances, and if you only cook rice occasionally, it’s not worth it.
Now, the Ambiano Two-Cup Rice Cooker will make perfect rice in a small kitchen. This darling rice cooker comes in a light blue color (it also comes in black) with a clear tempered glass lid that lets you see the rice as it cooks, and it comes with a rice scoop and measuring cup. It’s just big enough to make two cups of cooked rice (one cup of uncooked rice). Best of all, it’s only $12.99.

It's just like the larger rice cookers sold by ALDI, but in a mini size. It's perfect for one or two people and is designed for small spaces: campers, dorms, apartments or just small kitchens.
I love it, and my mom loves it too. It cooks rice in 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how much rice you're cooking and what type of rice you're using. It's a bit faster than my full-size rice cooker, and like larger rice cookers, it cooks rice perfectly without burning it. You don't have to monitor it like you do when cooking rice on the stove, which allows you to focus on the rest of your meal while it steams.
Most of the time I use my rice cooker to cook rice, but you can also cook quinoa, oatmeal, and lentils in it. These little rice cookers are perfectly sized for cooking oatmeal, which my mom loves.
My son wants me to buy another two-cup rice cooker so he can take it with him when he goes to college. That's four years away, but I like that he's planning ahead, and at such an amazing price, I can't say no.
