Although I love making salads myself, I don't always have time to chop the vegetables and make the dressings.
I often use bagged salads for a quick vegetable dish to add to a meal, and I was thrilled to discover a new Caesar salad flavor at ALDI: the Fresh Express Twisted Caesar Creamy Truffle Caesar Chopped Salad Kit.
My family is a huge fan of Twisted Caesar Pesto salad, so when a new flavor hit the refrigerated shelves at ALDI, we had to try it. Unsurprisingly, we all loved it. In fact, since we first tried it earlier this summer, we've been eating it once or twice a week.
What I Love About Twisted Caesar Creamy Truffle Caesar Salad Kits
These salad kits include shredded romaine lettuce, creamy truffle Caesar dressing, grated parmesan cheese, and garlic brioche croutons. If you love umami, you'll love this salad kit.
When you open the truffle vinaigrette package, you get a strong truffle scent, which pairs perfectly with the flavors of garlic and black pepper. It also brings out the savory flavors of grated parmesan cheese. Oh, it's so good.
A 270g bag of salad costs $2.99 and contains two and a half servings, enough to serve side salads to our family of three. If you're really into salad like my family, you'll want to buy two bags.
How I Serve Creamy Truffle Caesar Salad Twisted Caesar
My son and I sometimes split a bag of salad for lunch, and I add chicken or whatever leftover protein we have on hand. My son can eat an entire bag by himself (hence the two bags for one dinner).
Sometimes I add cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, or avocado. Mushrooms are especially tasty when tossed into this salad because they pair perfectly with the truffle vinaigrette. Although I haven't tried it yet, I think grilled portobello mushrooms would be absolutely amazing tossed into this salad and even better tossed with slices of grilled steak.
This salad kit makes a perfect base for Caesar wraps or other sandwiches, and my son once added some mixed greens and dressing to some tacos instead of using iceberg lettuce.
Honestly, this salad doesn't need anything else. It's just fantastic on its own. I know we'll continue to eat it all summer long, and beyond.
