I’m not a pizza snob by any means. My preferences include a wide range of styles, from basic cafeteria squares to the classic New York slice. Whether I’m eating fresh, frozen, or leftovers from the night before, you’d be hard-pressed to hear me say anything negative about pizza.
While browsing the pizza selection at ALDI, I came across a group of Mama Cozzi's “grab and bake” options. As a huge fan of pineapple on pizza, my attention was immediately drawn to Mama Cozzi's Hawaiian Honey and Spicy Flatbread PizzaIt measures nearly 16 inches long and five inches wide and retails for $6.99.
Why I Love ALDI's Mama Cozzi's Hot Flatbread Honey Hawaiian Pizza
First off, the presentation of this product is impeccable. The 16.8-ounce flatbread is about a quarter-inch thick and features a healthy assortment of toppings. There's a base layer of warm honey pizza sauce, followed by shredded mozzarella cheese, pineapple chunks, thick slices of jalapeño peppers, and julienne-cut ham.
I love the “grab and bake” aspect of this pizza. It’s not frozen and is meant to be stored in the refrigerator, so the cooking time is cut almost in half. After preheating my oven to 425°F, I placed the thawed flatbread directly on the middle rack and baked it for about 16 minutes. Once the cheese was melted and the bread was a nice golden brown, I removed it from the oven to let it cool.
Tips for Enjoying Mama Cozzi's Hot Flatbread and Honey Hawaiian Pizza
It's important to monitor the pizza during the last five minutes of cooking. The instructions say 16 to 18 minutes, but every oven is different. I removed the pizza after 16 minutes to make sure I didn't overheat the crust until it was crispy. I wanted to enjoy the soft texture of the flatbread and the beautifully melted cheese.
I'd say I got exactly what I expected from this tropical offering from Mama Cozzi. It's better than many frozen pizzas and packs a nice punch of heat thanks to the tangy honey and jalapeño peppers. On its own, it could be dinner for one, but I was able to make it dinner for two with a pair of summer salads on the side and fresh garlic rolls.
Leftovers are where this pizza earned its place. After popping a few slices in the air fryer, I topped them with a drizzle of Burman's Spicy Garlic Hot Sauce and freshly grated Parmesan cheese and quickly finished the rest. While it's not a hot and ready slice from my favorite pizzeria, Mama Cozzi's Hot Honey Hawaiian Flatbread is a great option with an unbeatable price that I'll definitely be taking advantage of again.
