Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken or turkey

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt, plus more to taste

  • 1 cup jarred marinara sauce

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 8 slider buns or small dinner rolls (whole grain or brioche work beautifully)

  • Optional Toppings:

    • Lettuce leaves (butter lettuce, romaine or arugula)

    • Sliced pickles or pickle chips

    • Sliced avocado

    • Sliced tomato

    • Fresh basil or parsley

    • Additional cheese (cheddar, pepper jack, provolone)


Instructions

Quick Steps to Make Kid-Friendly Sliders

  1. Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium. Crumble in 1 lb ground chicken or turkey and cook until no pink remains (~5 min).
  2. Stir in 1 tsp Italian seasoning, ½ tsp garlic powder and ¼ tsp salt, then pour in 1 cup marinara sauce. Simmer 3–4 min.
  3. Split 8 slider buns and arrange their bottoms on a baking sheet (toast briefly if desired).
  4. Spoon meat onto each bun bottom and top with 1 cup shredded mozzarella.
  5. Broil 1–2 min until cheese melts—watch closely.
  6. Add bun tops and serve with optional lettuce, pickles or extra cheese.
  7. Store leftover meat (not assembled) in the fridge up to 3 days; reheat with a splash of water.
