Description
Creamy, tangy, and full of Southern flavor, this homemade pimento cheese sauce is perfect for dipping, drizzling, or spreading. Made with real cheddar, pimentos, and a touch of spice, it’s a versatile comfort food favorite.
Ingredients
-
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
-
4 oz cream cheese, softened
-
1/2 cup mayonnaise
-
1/4 cup milk (adjust to desired thickness)
-
1/3 cup diced pimentos, drained
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
-
Pinch of cayenne pepper
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Melt the base
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the cream cheese and milk. Stir constantly until melted and smooth. -
Add cheddar and mayo
Gradually stir in the cheddar cheese, letting each handful melt before adding more. Mix in the mayonnaise. -
Add pimentos and seasonings
Stir in the diced pimentos, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Continue mixing until fully combined. -
Adjust the texture
If the sauce is too thick, add more milk 1 tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached. -
Season and serve
Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm over your favorite dishes.
Notes
For best results, always shred your own cheese—pre-shredded varieties contain additives that can affect melting. To adjust the sauce’s richness or spice, try using heavy cream or adding jalapeños for an extra kick.
