Ingredients
-
1 cup warm water (around 110–120 °F to preserve nutrients)
-
Juice of ½ fresh lemon (about 1–2 tablespoons)
-
½ teaspoon ground turmeric (or 1 teaspoon freshly grated root)
-
A pinch of black pepper (essential for curcumin absorption)
-
Optional sweetener: 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
-
Optional tangy twist: 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Tip: Use a non-porous cup—glass, ceramic, or stainless steel—to prevent staining from turmeric.
Instructions
-
Warm the Water
Heat water until it feels comfortably warm on your wrist—hot enough to dissolve ingredients, but not so hot that it degrades curcumin or vitamin C. -
Mix in Turmeric and Black Pepper
Stir the turmeric and black pepper into the warm water. Breaking up any clumps ensures an even, golden color. -
Add Lemon Juice
Squeeze in the juice of half a lemon and stir again. The fresh acidity brightens the flavor and jump-starts your digestive enzymes. -
Sweeten or Tang Up
If the blend tastes too sharp, add honey or maple syrup until it’s just right. For extra cleansing power, stir in a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. -
Sip Slowly on an Empty Stomach
Ideally, this tonic is enjoyed first thing in the morning. Keep the mixture stirred as you sip—turmeric tends to settle at the bottom.
