Igloo Recalls 31,500 Water Bottles Due to Potential Choking Hazard

Popular cooler brand, Igloo, has issued a recall of approximately 31,500 units of its 12-ounce Youth Sipper bottle. The silicone top of the sipper can come loose while someone is drinking from the bottle, creating a choking hazard. The recall was reported to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) after a report of the silicone top detaching during use.

The recalled water bottles were sold in four colors: a pink cap with a purple body; a purple top with a pink body; a blue top with a green body; and a green top with a blue body. The recalled product was sold on the Igloo website, Rural King stores, and Academy Sports + Outdoors stores from April 2023 to March 2024.

What to do if you have the recalled products at home

If you purchased the recalled Igloo Youth Sipper bottle, stop using it immediately and contact Igloo for a replacement bottle or full refund.

Remove the silicone top, cut it into two pieces, take a photo of the destroyed silicone top, then discard the top.

Regardless of where the bottles were purchased, you can submit a photo of the destroyed silicone top to customerservice@shop.igloocoolers.com to receive a replacement bottle, a $15 online store credit, or a $15 gift card, which will be mailed directly to you.

Consumers with the original purchase receipt can submit a photo of the receipt along with the photo of the destroyed silicone top to the same email address for a full refund to their original payment method.

Consumers who purchased bottles at Academy Sports + Outdoors stores can return the defective product directly to the store in exchange for a store credit, a $15 gift card, or a refund to their payment method original.

Consumers who purchased bottles from Rural King should not attempt to return their bottles to the store. Instead, they should contact Igloo directly via the email address above and include a photo of the destroyed silicone top. Igloo will provide a replacement bottle, a $15 online store credit (which can also be used at the Igloo company store in Katy, Texas), or a $15 gift card.
